TREE PLANTATION DRIVE HELD AT XIMB
Bhubaneswar(11/09/2023): The Social Responsibility Cell, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, in collaboration with the BES team conducted a Tree Plantation Drive on Monday, commemorating three weeks to the Business Excellence Summit 2023, the annual flagship event of XIMB. The event was graced by dignitaries from the administration and the Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar Centennial President - Dr.B.P.Dutta and Secretary - Smita Satpathy, CFO Fr.Arokiyadass SJ and ADSA, Prof.Arijit Mitra who highlighted the importance of this noble initiative towards saving the world. Over 50 trees were planted in the university’s campus.
The trees were planted by the dignitaries, faculties, students, and staff.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr.B.P.Dutta, President, Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar said, “Trees are a symbol of hope and renewal.
They remind us that even during difficulty, there is always beauty and possibility.
By planting trees, we are planting seeds of hope for future generations.” Addressing the gathering, Smita Satpathy, Secretary, the Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar said, “Trees are a gift from nature.
They provide us with so many benefits, and yet we often take them for granted.
Let us all make a commitment to plant trees and care for them, so that they can continue to enrich our lives for generations to come.” “We are committed to creating a more sustainable campus,” said CFO, Fr.Arokiyadass SJ.
In addition to that he said, “Trees play an important role in the environment by providing shade, reducing pollution, and improving air quality.
By planting trees, we are helping to create a healthier and more sustainable environment for our students, faculty, and staff.
I am happy to see the high enthusiasm exhibited by the students who have come forth for the drive.
Let us all pledge not only to plant trees but also nurture them.” Emphasizing the need to protect and conserve the environment, ADSA, Prof.Arijit Mitra said’ “Trees are our friends.
They give us shade, they clean our air, and they make our world a more beautiful place.
“Let us all do our part to protect trees and plant more of them. This was followed by a Nukkad Natak performance by the SRC Team that emphasized the negative impact of deforestation on climate and encouraged everyone to plant a tree.
In the end, the XIM community planted saplings with the hope of a healthier environment and a better future. The tree plantation drive was a grand success.
The university is grateful to all the participants who helped to make it a success, including the chief guest.
