FIRE SAFETY CAMPAIGN KICKS OFF WITH TRIBUTE IN CONDOLENCE MEETING

8/12/25 Balasore, A novel campaign called in the title “Agnidahanaru Surakshya Abhiyan” was kicked off with the Ekadasha Shradhanjali (11th Day Condolence) Meeting of Kabita Acharya, the wife of Bijay Kumar Acharya, the founder Chairperson of Bana Dhulira Phula, a prominent social worker of Balasore and a member of many social organizations. The Shradhanjali meeting of Kabita Acharya, the trustee of Bana Dhulira Phula organized at the BRIT Kalyan Mandap in Balasore, was inaugurated by Srushtidhar Parida, editor of Dhwani Pratidhwani, who paid tribute to Kabita Acharya and inaugurated the “Agnidahanaru Surakshya Abhiyan” by lighting the lamp. Shilpi Kesudas conducted the meeting.  First of all, Mansi Acharya, the only daughter of Bijay and Kabita Acharya, welcomed everyone and sought everyone's cooperation and blessings, while her granddaughter little Odishi dancer Sai Devanshi Mohapatra recited a few verses, Gita.  The meeting was be attended by poet Eng Abhay Das, chief of the MASS organization, Aam TV director and president of the Balasore District Journalists' Association, Biplab Kumar Mohanty, poet and organizer Yashodhara Das, lawyer Jitendra Upadhyay, prominent social worker Gaurang Panigrahi, educationist and Shreemandir Karana Sevak Dilip Kumar Mangaraj, Rajendra Raut, Ranjit Parshti, Gopabandhu Das, Secretary of the Rural Development Foundation, Harishchandra Raj, Politician Archana Nandi, Meenati Kar, Meenati Sethi, Chairperson  of Manthan Educational and Cultural Foundation, Narottam Das, and Bymonath Rath. They priased the praises of the credentials of Kabita Acharya and appealed to the government and nongovernment organisations including public to strengthen the campaign for fire safety in the coming days.

 Fire accidents are increasing day by day in Odisha, even though there are big health hospitals like Medical College in Balasore, there is no system for successful treatment of fire burns. Even Cuttack ACB and Bhubaneswar AIIMS do not have a adquate system for the treatment of fire burn patients. Due to which every year a large number of fire burn patients die due to lack of proper treatment.
It says that Kabitha Acharya was alone at home worshipping Maa Lakshmi when the fire accident occurred. The fire victim was taken to FM Medical College and Hospital, Balasore, Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack and later to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar but due to lack of availability of ICU and immediate adequate treatment, she died due to severe complications.
Many well-wishers from Balasore, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Puri paid their respects at the 11th Day Condolence Ceremony. While relatives from Soro, Nilagiri and Jaleswar, Mayurbhanj joined the occasion. Asit Bhanja, Gayadhar Das, Satyanarayan Dash, Kshirod Pani, Dr. Govind  Chandra Biswal, founder of Bana Dhulira Phula Basanti Mani Singh, trustee treasurer Pranab Singh, coordinators Kabita Singh, Sita Singh, Hrishikesh Acharya, Hari Narayan Dash, BSNL AGM Satya Narayan Dash, founder chairman of Andha Foundation Indra Radharaman Dalai, Rajendra Das, chairman of Krishna Educational and Charitable Trust Susanta Kumar Nayak and Secretary Ishan Kumar Sahu and family members along with many social workers, poets, writers, media representatives and people from different parts of Odisha participated in the program and conducted it smoothly. Son-in-law Ajit Kumar Mahapatra proposed the vote of thanks.
