Gram Vikas hosts Jagriti Yatra 2024: Celebrating grassroots innovation & sustainable development
Berhampur (23/11/2024): Gram Vikas in Mohuda, Ganjam, Odisha, proudly hosted Jagriti Yatra 2024, welcoming 500 young changemakers from across India.
This significant stop on the 15-day, 8,000-kilometer entrepreneurial train journey highlighted the transformative power of grassroots innovation and sustainable development. Gram Vikas: A Beacon of Change in Rural India. For over four decades, Gram Vikas has been empowering rural communities through innovative programs in water and sanitation, sustainable livelihoods, renewable energy, and education.
The organization’s impactful work has reached over 600,000 people across 1,500 villages, demonstrating the potential of community-led development to drive long-term, inclusive growth. During their visit, the participants of Jagriti Yatra, or “Yatris,” immersed themselves in the stories and systems that have made Gram Vikas a model for rural transformation.
They gained valuable insights into initiatives such as Water and Sanitation Programs: Gram Vikas’s pioneering efforts to ensure universal access to clean water and sanitation have set benchmarks for sustainable rural development. Renewable Energy Solutions: Exploring how innovative, sustainable energy solutions are empowering villages and enhancing livelihoods. Community-Led Development Models: Learning from local leadership and collective problem-solving to address critical rural challenges. A Day of Learning and Inspiration: The Yatris engaged in workshops, interactive discussions, and field visits led by Gram Vikas experts.
These activities inspired young leaders by showcasing innovative, scalable solutions to rural challenges and fostering a deeper understanding of the needs and aspirations of India’s Tier 2 and Tier 3 regions.
