Meeting Held for Four-Point Campaign ‘Ama Sankalpa – Nisha Nuhe, Jibana’ in Balasore

Balasore, 03/06: (By Krushna Kumar Mohanty) — A preparatory meeting for the statewide four-point campaign titled ‘Ama Sankalpa – Nisha Nuhe, Jibana’ (Our Pledge – Not Intoxication, But Life) was held at the chamber of the Additional District Magistrate (General), Sudhakar Nayak, who chaired the session.
As per the call of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the campaign commenced on May 31, 2025, with the aim of eliminating substance abuse across the state. This annual drive targets the eradication of harmful substances such as cannabis, opium, charas, brown sugar, cocaine, and other narcotics.
According to Excise Department circular no. 3166, several decisive steps were discussed and approved for implementation. Awareness campaigns through folk performances such as pala and daskathia will be conducted by enlisted cultural troupes under VKSS, JKSS, and NKSS. The District Culture Officer has been assigned to coordinate these cultural initiatives.
The District Education Officer and SHGs have been directed to organize awareness programs in schools and colleges. The DSWO (District Social Welfare Officer) will also take up sensitization activities. The Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) has been entrusted with planning tree plantation drives. The District Sports Officer has been advised to arrange marathon runs and yoga camps as part of the public engagement strategy.
At the end of the meeting, Chairman Sudhakar Nayak instructed Excise Superintendent Manoj Kumar Sethy, the nodal officer for the campaign, to ensure proper coordination and execution of all initiatives across departments.
