State-Level Workshop on Aquarium Fish for everyone Held at Fakir Mohan Autonomous College

Balasore, 03/05 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty) The Department of Zoology at Fakir Mohan Autonomous College organized a state-level workshop titled "Bright Fins, Bright Future – Aquarium Fish for Everyone." The event aimed to raise awareness about the breeding, commercial potential, and aesthetic value of ornamental fish.

The workshop was inaugurated by the Principal of the college, Professor Dillip Kumar Ghosh, who emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting sustainable livelihoods through scientific knowledge and skill development.

The chief guest, Dr. Saroj Kumar Swain, Chief Scientist at ICAR - National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, delivered an insightful talk on the breeding of ornamental fish and their growing market demand. He highlighted how breeding colorful aquarium fish can empower individuals to become self-reliant and economically independent.

Dr. Firoz Kumar Padhi, Head of the Department of Zoology, provided an overview of the workshop's theme and objectives. Dr. Dillip Kumar Bej introduced the invited guests, offering a glimpse into their contributions to the field of aquatic sciences.

Retired Professor Dr. Lambodar De spoke on the aesthetic and ecological significance of ornamental fish, underlining their role not just in beautifying spaces but also in offering therapeutic value.

The coordination of the workshop was managed by Smt. Jasmin Raut, Hrusikesh Sethy, and Bibhudatta Prusti, who ensured the smooth conduct of the program. The event concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Sri Soumya Ranjan Singh.

Faculty members and students from various departments actively participated in the workshop, making the event a resounding success and a platform for knowledge exchange on sustainable aquaculture practices.
