3RD CULTURE WORKING GROUP MEETING CONCLUDES IN HAMPI

Hampi(13/07/2023): Under India’s G20 Presidency, the third Culture Working Group (CWG) meeting concluded in Hampi, Karnataka on July 12, 2023, Wednesday.

The four-day meeting ended with a special yoga session at the Pattabiram Temple.

The main objective of this meeting was to build a consensus on the issues related to the Culture Ministerial Declaration.

The meeting witnessed participation from member countries, nine guest countries, and seven international organizations.

The focus of the meeting was to build consensus on recommendations and best practices around the four priorities identified by the CWG under India’s presidency.

Moreover, the meeting also focused on developing a joint statement among the member countries for the Culture Ministerial meeting to be held in Varanasi next month.

A strong declaration with action-oriented concrete outcomes is expected from the three meetings of the Culture Working Group.

Furthermore, a report on the global thematic webinar will be launched during the Culture Ministerial Meeting in Varanasi.

During the meeting, an exhibition on Lambani embroidery was organized on the theme 'Culture unites all', which was inaugurated by Union Minister Prahlad Joshi.

This exhibition set a Guinness World Record for the 'Largest Display of Long Objects' with a total of 1755 objects.

More than 450 women artisans from the Lambani community were involved in this, these artisans are associated with the Sandur Kushala Kala Kendra.

About 1300 Lambani embroidery patchworks were displayed during the exhibition.

Describing it as a commendable effort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that “such an exhibition would encourage the participation of women.” A culture program was organized for the G20 delegates wherein Bamboo Symphony Band and other cultural performances took place.

During this meeting, the G20 delegates visited heritage sites such as the Vitthal Temple, the Royal Enclosure, and the Yeduru Basavanna Complex of the Hampi Group of Monuments, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
