Athletes of Odisha AM/NS India Kho Kho High Performance Centre shine at 57th Senior National Kho Kho Championship
Puri(08//04/2025): As many as 15 athletes of the Odisha AM/NS India Kho Kho High Performance Centre (HPC) represented Odisha teams at the 57th Senior National Kho Kho Championship held in Puri during March 31 to April 04, 2025.
The Odisha Women’s Team made the state proud by emerging as the runner up in the tournament while the Odisha Men’s Team secured the fourth rank.
The Odisha Women’s team included six athletes from the HPC - Archana Majhi, Magai Majhi, Subhashree Sing, Archana Pradhan, Harapriya Bhuyan, and Lisarani Raita while the Odisha Men’s team included seven athletes from the HPC - Arjun Singh, Deepak Kumar Sahoo, Pabani Sabar, Papu Marndi, Vishal Oram, T.Sankar, and Sunil Patra.
Two more athletes of the HPC, K.Ramya and Sameer Adiwal, represented Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Bharat respectively.
Throughout the championship, the HPC athletes displayed exceptional teamwork and an unyielding determination reflecting the coaching and guidance they received at the Odisha AM/NS India Kho Kho High-Performance Centre. The Odisha Men’s team remained undefeated in the group stage, securing victories against Madhya Bharat, Himachal Pradesh, and Delhi, and finished on top of the group table.
They fought valiantly in the semifinals but missed the finals by a close margin, eventually securing the fourth position in the tournament. The Odisha Women’s team mirrored the same dominance, registering wins against Madhya Bharat, Bihar, and Vidarbha to be placed at the top their group table.
In a high-octane final against Maharashtra, the team went on to bag the runners-up with a final score of 21-25.
Archana Majhi from the HPC was adjudged the Best Defender of the Tournament, showcasing her agility, grit, and consistency throughout the tournament.
Adding to the glory, T.Jagannath Das, a former athlete of the HPC, was conferred with the prestigious Ekalavya Award for Best Player of the Tournament, showcasing the continued impact of Odisha AM/NS India Kho Kho High Performance Centre in nurturing top-tier Kho Kho talent. Sanjeev Sharma, Head Coach, Odisha AM/NS India Kho Kho High-Performance Centre said, “Our athletes have shown remarkable growth, discipline, and grit throughout the tournament.
Topping the group stages and fighting till the very end reflects their dedication and the impact of structured high-performance training.
I am proud of each one of them." Odisha AM/NS India Kho Kho High-Performance Centre has been consistently making waves with their excellent performances in the recently held 38th National Games, SGFI Under-17 National Championship and representing the winning Indian team in the Kho Kho World Cup 2025.
