Play & Blosoom Girls’ Friendly Football Match held at Balianta
Balianta (By Abhishek Mohanty): People's Cultural Centre (PECUC), a leading voluntary organization in Odisha, in collaboration with Adoptionscentrum, organized a girls' friendly football match on Saturday among six teams from 6 schools of Balianta and Bolgarh block at the Benupur Mini Stadium, Balianta block of Khordha district. The event featured teams of girl students from PM Shri Acharya Harihar Government High School, Benupur GP, Balianta High School, Balianta GP, Panchabati Government UP School, Jayarsasan, Jabannathpur GP, Panchayat High School & UP School, Bainchua GP, Jhintisasan Panchayat High school, Panikata, Purohitpur GP & Haripur High School, Haripur, Bolgarh.
The "Play and Blossom" girls' friendly football match was designed to promote equality among young girls, enhance their physical and mental well-being, boost their self-confidence enhance their leadership quality.
Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, Secretary of PECUC, shared the purpose and encouraged the girls to play as it will help in their overall development and will boost their self-confidence.
Joining the event, Bhakta Batsala Mahapatra, BEO, Balianta, Dr. Jitendra Mohanty, PHC, Benupur, Ranjan Kumar Dash, General Secretary & Odisha Secondary School Teachers' Association (OSSTA) inspired the players and presented certificates and trophy.
Ratna Dash, Treasurer PECUC also present on the occasion.
Among others Ganesh Karan, Head Master, PM Shri Acharya Harihar High School, Benupur, Dhruba Charan Tripathy, Head Master, Government High School, Balianta, Hrushikesh Patra, Sarpanch, Benupur, Krushna Keshab Apata, Sarpanch, Balianta, Jambeswar Rath, Assistant Head Master, PM Shri Acharya Harihar High School, Pramod Kumar Khuntia, PET Teacher (Retd), spoke on this occasion.
They all commended PECUC’s initiative and encouraged the young players.
As part of the event, a training session on gender equality and leadership development was held for the girl players, facilitated by Madhumita Das, Secretary General, Indian Council of Child Welfare and Pragnya Parimita Bastia, Senior Manager, Breakthrough. Over 80 girls actively participated in the event, with referees Bhanja Kishor Nayak & linemen Biswa Bhushan Bhanja, Alok Chandra Behera, Dilip Kumar Mohanty, Chaudhuary Swetalina Das, Pradeep Chandra Mangaraj, overseeing the matches, and Anil Kumar Behera providing live commentary.
Jyotishankar Mohanty, Upama Mohanty, Sumitra Mohanty, Rashmi Rekha Sahoo, Puja Panda, Bishnupriya Mohapatra, Bamdev Jena facilitated the programme, making this empowering event a success.
