Best practices and data reforms highlighted on day 2 of National UDISE+ Conference

The second day of the National Conference on UDISE+ (Unified District Information System for Education Plus), jointly organised by the School and Mass Education Department, Odisha, and the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education, focused on sharing best practices and strengthening the data capture framework.
States including Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Manipur, and Maharashtra presented key initiatives undertaken for the effective implementation and management of UDISE+. The presentations highlighted measures to improve data quality, strengthen validation mechanisms, and ensure timely reporting within the system.
Deliberations were also held on state-specific requirements and suggestions for enhancing the UDISE+ data capture format. Representatives from CBSE, NIOS, the Odisha Board of Secondary Education, and the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education participated in the discussions, emphasising the need for greater alignment, coordination, and responsiveness in the data system.
Dr. N. Thirumala Naik, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, School and Mass Education Department, Government of Odisha, shared valuable insights on strengthening UDISE+. He underscored the importance of continuous improvement in educational data systems to support evidence-based planning and policy formulation.
Delegates from various States and Education Boards were felicitated in recognition of their contributions to strengthening UDISE+ implementation. The event was smoothly coordinated, with stage management led by Ch. Vijaya Laxmi, Deputy Director, Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE). The conference concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Arati Maharana, Deputy Director, Ministry of Education, who expressed appreciation to all participants and organisers for the successful conduct of the two-day national conference.
