93rd Birth Anniversary of Manoj Das Observed by Fakir Mohan Sahitya Parishad
Balasore, 28/2 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): The 93rd birth anniversary of the unforgettable literary figure and Padma Bhushan awardee Manoj Das was celebrated with solemnity at the auditorium of Fakir Mohan Sahitya Parishad, at Kabitirtha Shanti Kanan, Balasore.
The programme was presided over by Dr. Subash Chandra Patra, President of Fakir Mohan Sahitya Parishad (FMSP).
Dr. Sukanti Mahapatra, Professor in the Department of English at Charampa College, Bhadrak, attended as the chief guest and keynote speaker. In her address, she stated that the literary works of Manoj Das remain a source of inspiration for people from all sections of society. His writings, she observed, uphold patience, empathy and the essential dignity of human character. She described him as a profound thinker and a true bearer of Indian culture and values.
Highlighting the distinctiveness of his creative vision, she remarked that Manoj Das dissolved the boundaries between light and darkness, reality and illusion, the material and the spiritual, the sensory and the transcendental, as well as the earthly and the otherworldly. Through such synthesis, he created a universal literary landscape where deep human values find meaningful expression.
Secretary Dr. Ratnakar Singh delivered the introductory address. Joint Secretary Rajesh Kumar Giri invited the guests to the dais. At the outset, a musical composition on Manoj Das, written by Dr. Laxmikanta Tripathy, was presented collectively under the coordination of Joint Secretary Kalyani Nanda. She also offered the vote of thanks at the end of the programme.
A large number of eminent literary enthusiasts were present on the occasion and enriched the celebration with their participation.
