NIFT Bhubaneswar celebrates Convocation Ceremony for the Class of 2024
Bhubaneswar(09/11/2024): The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Bhubaneswar marked a momentous occasion today with its 2024 Convocation Ceremony, celebrating the accomplishments of the graduating batch of students.
The event was held in the esteemed presence of distinguished dignitaries, faculty, and guests who came together to honour the students for their hard work and achievements in the field of fashion education. The Convocation Ceremony was hosted at the IMMT Auditorium, Sachivalaya Marg, RRL Campus, Acharya Vihar, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, starting 2:30 PM.
A total of 196 students were conferred their degrees, including 168 undergraduate and 28 postgraduate students, who will now join the growing family of NIFT alumni. The ceremony commenced with the ceremonial procession led by Tanu Kashyap(IAS), Director General of NIFT, who graced the event as the Chief Guest.
Also present were Prof.Dr.Sudha Dhingra, Dean Academics, Rajesh Kumar Jha, Director, NIFT Bhubaneswar, Dr.Santosh Kumar Tarai, Campus Academic Coordinator. The occasion was graced by several distinguished guests, including Dr.Anand Pradhan, Director of IIMC Dhenkanal, Dr.Ramanuj Narayan, Director of CSIR–IMMT, Dr.Sanjay Kumar Panda, Retired IAS officer, and Padmashree Sudarsan Pattnaik, the renowned Indian sand artist from Puri, Odisha.
Along with esteemed faculty members and key officials from NIFT, these dignitaries contributed to making the event memorable.
Additionally, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, the Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, extended his heartfelt blessings to the graduating students of NIFT Bhubaneswar.The evening began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and an invocation to Ganpati followed by the National Anthem.
The event was streamed live on NIFT Bhubaneswar’s official YouTube and Instagram pages, allowing viewers from across the globe to join in the celebrations. As part of the ceremony, NIFT Bhubaneswar recognized and rewarded students for their exemplary academic performance and services.
The prestigious 'Best Academic Performance Award' was presented to the top students across various departments, including Fashion Management Studies (FMS), Fashion Design (FD), Textile Design (TD), Fashion Communication (FC), and Fashion Technology (FT).
The ‘NIFT Meritorious Student Awards’ were also distributed, with cash prizes and citations for the highest achievers in each category. Highlights of the Awardees: Best Academic Performance Award – FMS: Sakshi Mahajan Best Academic Performance Award – FD: Jayita Poddar Best Academic Performance Award – FC: Harshitha Bhogi Best Academic Performance Award – TD: Muskan Khatri Best Academic Performance Award – FT: Ankit S P Additionally, the ‘NIFT Extraordinary Service Award’ was presented to Aryan Keshri (DFT), and the prestigious ‘NIFT Student of the Year Award’ was given to Mili Singh (TD) for their outstanding contributions to the campus and community. The students from the various departments were called to the stage to receive their degrees, each department being honored by the Chief Guest Tanu Kashyap(IAS), Director General of NIFT.
Students from Fashion Management Studies, Fashion Lifestyle & Accessories, Fashion Communication, Fashion Design, Textile Design, and Fashion Technology were acknowledged for their dedication and achievements in completing their rigorous academic journey. The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr.Santosh Kumar Tarai, Campus Academic Coordinator, NIFT Bhubaneswar.
He expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries, faculty, parents, and guests for their unwavering support in the academic success of the students.
He also encouraged the graduates to use their knowledge and skills to contribute meaningfully to the world, both within the fashion industry and beyond. Director NIFT Bhubaneswar Rajesh Kumar Jha, in his speech, assured the students that NIFT alumni would continue to serve as a beacon for future generations of students.
He reaffirmed the institute's commitment to producing world-class professionals who are not only skilled but socially conscious and equipped to handle the challenges of a rapidly changing world. As the evening drew to a close, the Chief Guest Tanu Kashyap(IAS), Director General of NIFT, declared the convocation ceremony officially closed, wishing the graduates the very best in their future endeavors.
