IDCA 6th One-Day National Zonal Cricket Championship for Deaf concludes with felicitation ceremony
Bhubaneswar(01/05/2025): The Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA)’s 6th One-Day National Zonal Cricket Championship for Deaf organised in Bhubaneshwar concludes with a spectacular closing ceremony.
The Chief Guest of the Ceremony, Dr Sibaji Panda, Director, Happy Hands School of the Deaf, presented the winning trophy to the North Zone and Rakhal Kumar Sethy, Captain of Physically Challenged Cricket Team of Odisha the runner-up trophy to the West Zone.
Sagarkanta Senapati, General Secretary of Odisha Deaf Cricket Association expressed his gratitude to IDCA for nomination of Bhubaneswar, Odisha as a venue for the IDCA 6th One-Day National Zonal Championship.
Such championships will help the local talent to grow and provide phenomenal exposure.
All the members of ODCA were equally enthralled at the culmination of the championship.
It goes without saying that this series would not have been possible without the help of Rohit Saini (North Zone) and Viraj Kolte (West Zone) was awarded the Man of the Match while Umar Ashraf (North Zone) was awarded the Best Batsmen of the Tournament.
Sanju Sharma (West Zone) was awarded the Best Bowler of the Series and Player of the Series titles. Further, Umpires Asutosh, Hussain, Saswati, Bibhu, Anand, Sumendra and scorer Rashmi were also felicitated for their contribution. Virender Singh, Captain of the North Zone said, "It was a great tournament.
We had the chance to learn so much from other players and hone our skills to improve our game on the field.
This victory belongs to all the players, our coach, our support staff, the team cricket association and every individual who showed their faith in us.
I am extremely grateful to IDCA for organising the tournament.” The match was held from April 26th to 30th 2025 in which especially abled men’s teams Zones from five of the country competed to clinch the coveted champions trophy.
