Odisha government directs uninterrupted power supply amid heatwave preparedness

Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): The Odisha government has taken special measures to deal with the heatwave situation across the state.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said that the Energy Department has been instructed to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the heatwave period.

A Heatwave Action Plan has been prepared for all 30 districts, including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, as well as 10 municipal areas. 

Separate heatwave action plans will also be prepared for another 31 municipal areas.

To monitor the situation and provide immediate response during emergencies, 24-hour control rooms have been opened at both the state and district levels.

The state government has also recommended that heatwaves be included in the national disaster list to strengthen preparedness and response measures.
