4TH BRM ASHA AWARDS CONFERRED ON MULTIPLE SPORTSPERSONS, JOURNALISTS AND ORGANISATION
Bhubaneswar,(28/02/2024): The 4th BRM ASHA Awards were held at Lohia Academy in Bhubaneswar by the Bharati Rath Memorial Academy of Special Human Abilities.
The recipient sportspersons of this highly prestigious awards for this year were Padmini Tudu for her performance in winning the IBSA World Games for Cricket for the Blind Women last year; Suchitra Parida for winning a Gold medal in Wheelchair Javelin Throw in the World Championship this year; Baishnab Rajpalia for winning a Silver medal in Special Olympics World Summer Games in Berlin, Germany last year; Aridita Chakraborty for winning a Silver medal in Special Olympics World Summer Games in Berlin, Germany last year, Pankaj Bhue for his performance in the Indian Blind Cricket team becoming the Runner Up in the IBSA World Games in Cricket in Birmingham, England and Goutam Singh for winning a Silver medal in the National Wheelchair Rugby Championship in 2019.
Special Olympics Bharat Coach Jhasketan Sahu was also given the award for representing India in Special Olympics World Summer Games in Berlin Germany last year in Futsal and acquiring the 4th position. The sports journalists who were honoured with the Awards for their contribution in coverage of sports and sportspersons with disabilities were Tapan Kumar Swain of Dharitri in print media and Sushant Behera of Argus News in electronic media.
SADBHABANA from Keonjhar, a voluntary organisation was recognised for its work in promotion of inclusion through sports.
The award was received by its founder secretary Chandi Prasad Pattanaik. The guests who gave away the awards were Writer, Bijayini Tripathy; Educationists, Deba Kumar Tripathy, Jagannath Lenka, Pratap Rath, Kumar Devdutt, Asambhava and Sagarika Sahoo; Special Olympics International Athlete, Sarita Routray and retired Bank DGM, Prabhat Rath.
Prakash Rath, Secretary, BRM ASHA, gave the welcome address and took the audience through a presentation on the Executive Committee members, the aims and objectives of the organisation and its activities last year.
