79th Independence Day celebrated at Indian Army Station Headquarters, Chandipur with ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and ceremonial events

Balasore, Aug 16 (Krishna Kumar Mohanty): The Indian Army Station Headquarters at Chandipur-on-Sea marked the 79th Independence Day between August 13 and 15, 2025, under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. The celebration featured a series of programmes across Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts.

The event began on August 13 with the distribution of national flags to every household, school, ex-servicemen associations, and public institutions under the station’s jurisdiction. The tricolour was proudly displayed across the region.

On August 14, a Tri-Service Motorcycle “Tiranga Rally” was organised with the participation of more than 200 armed forces personnel, veterans, NCC cadets, students, and civilians. Passing through major routes of the city, the rally symbolised unity, discipline, and the strong military-civilian bond.

On Independence Day, a ceremonial flag hoisting was conducted at the Station Headquarters by Lieutenant Colonel A.K. Boiti, followed by cultural programmes filled with patriotic spirit. Simultaneous celebrations also took place at the MAP quarters, ECHS, Chandipur School, and ESM League premises.

As part of special community outreach, events were held with veterans, Veer Naris, Veer Matas, and the Veer Nari Vande Mataram Women’s Welfare Movement. A joint celebration with Maharaja Pratap Chandra School and College in Mayurbhanj was also organised. More than 700 students from 27 government schools took part. Outstanding students were felicitated by Lieutenant Colonel Santosh Panda, Administrative Commandant of Station Headquarters Balasore (Chandipur-on-Sea). In his address, he said the true spirit of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ lies in fostering unity, pride, and a collective sense of responsibility towards the nation.

The enthusiastic participation of citizens, veterans, and youth strengthened the bond between the armed forces and the local community. Despite heavy rains, the celebrations went on uninterrupted, standing as a symbol of resilience and unity.

Ex-Servicemen Leagues (ESML) across the four districts also mobilised local citizens, organised independent rallies, and spread the message of Har Ghar Tiranga in both rural and urban areas.
