Centre revises NH rules
New Delhi (10/09/2024): The Centre on Tuesday amended the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008.
A notification issued in this regard said, "A driver, owner or person in-charge of a mechanical vehicle other than National Permit vehicle who makes use of the same section of national highway, permanent bridge, bypass or tunnel, as the case may be, shall be levied a zero-user fee upto twenty kilometers of journey in each direction in a day under Global Navigation Satellite System based user fee collection system and if the distance travelled is more than twenty kilometers, then fee will be charged for actual distance travelled." Vehicles equipped with a functional Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) on-board unit will benefit from this provision.
