There are many types of folk art in Cuttack. Out of them four major folk arts are viz..Ghoda nacha, medha nacha, kandhei nacha, ghantapatua nacha.

Ghoda nacha

In the vibrant tapestry of Cuttack's folk art, the rhythmic beats of Ghoda Nacha echo through the streets, a tribute to Baseli Thakurani during the auspicious months of April to June. Fishermen, adorned with horse heads, gracefully move to honor their goddess.

Medha nacha

Amidst the fervor of festivals like Dussehra and Holi, Medha Nach transports spectators from towns to villages, masked performers captivating audiences with vibrant celebrations.

Ghantapatua nacha

In the solemn devotion of Ghant Patua Nach, devotees seek solace and blessings from Goddess Sarala and other deities, surrendering worldly pleasures for months on end.in this celebration they avoid nonveg food.

Kandhei nacha

And then, there's the enchanting Kandhei Nacha, where dolls come to life, dancing and performing dramas, weaving tales of tradition and culture. Divided into hand doll and stick doll dances, it brings to life stories of yore with each graceful movement.

Cuttack, born from humble army camps, it was  stands as Odisha's capital, its heritage deeply rooted in the artistry of its people. Among its five ancient villages, the legacy of folk art thrives, a testament to the city's rich and enduring cultural heritage.
