Elderly woman thrashed to death during robbery bid
Jajpur (05/04/2025): An elderly woman was allegedly attacked and killed during a robbery attempt at Tigiria village under Balichandrapur police limits in Jajpur district late Friday night.
The deceased identified as Koushalya Pati is a widow and was living with her younger daughter, who works as an ASHA worker. According to reports, Pati woke up to attend nature’s call at around 2 am. The two burglars were hatching a plan to enter into the house of the woman.
The robbers attacked Pati after she spotted them. Pati was critically injured and was rushed to Badachana Medical Centre, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
Locals have demanded strict action against the culprits and to intensify night patrolling to prevent such crimes.
