Brown sugar peddler injured in police encounter in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar (11/04/2025): A brown sugar peddler was injured in a police encounter at Khandagiri area in Bhubaneswar late on Thursday night. The criminal identified as Sheikh Jamshed was admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar after receiving bullet injury on his left leg. The police seized brown sugar worth Rs 20 lakh from the spot. On the basis of a tip-off regarding the presence of Jamshed at Khandagiri area, a team of the Special Crime Unit of Commissionerate Police carried out a raid.

As the police team tried to nab the criminal, he opened fire on the officers, forcing them to retaliate.
