Bhadrak (07/05/2024): The Bhadrak Rural Police on Tuesday arrested a fake National Entrance and Eligibility Test (NEET) candidate and his two associates. The arrested has been identified as Ankit Raj and Rajesh Kumar Madhukar and his associate Prem Shankar Pandey. A NEET aspirant named Sashwat Tripathy from Mayurbhanj district had established contact with a member of the racket Aditya Kumar for another examinee.
Accordingly, Rajesh contacted Ankit Raj studying in Kolkata.
A deal was finalized for Rs 10 lakh after Ankit agreed to appear the NEET UG 2024 as he was a poor student. During the medical entrance test, an invigilator suspected that Ankit was appearing the test on behalf of Sashwat by impersonating him as a bonafide examinee. The invigilator found a photograph of the fake examinee on the admit card and informed an administrative officer about the matter.
The fingerprints of the fake examinee mismatched with the Aadhaar Card biometrics as were earlier provided by Sashwat. The Centre Superintendent alerted the Rural Police and lodged an FIR.
Basing on the complaint, police started probe and nabbed the wrongdoers.
