KALINGA SAFETY EXCELLENCE AWARD 2022 PRESENTED TO 23 MINES & 52 INDUSTRIES AT NATIONAL SAFETY CONCLAVE
Bhubaneswar (20/12/2023): Vision Zero is a concept that aims to eliminate all work related fatalities, severe injuries & illness.
Mission Possible in workplace refers to the set of initiatives to be designed to make certain goals achievable within the working environment.
Both concepts underline the importance of prioritizing safety & setting attainable goals at workplaces.
In line with the above objective, 14th edition of National Safety Conclave, the flagship event of Institute of Quality and Environment Management Services (IQEMS), Bhubaneswar began on December, 20,2023 at The New Marrion, Bhubaneswar.
The theme is Vision Zero, Mission Possible. The two-day event is being organized in association with Institute of Public Enterprises, Hyderabad and Odisha State Productivity Council.
The conclave is supported by Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India & Ministry of Labour and ESI, Government of Odisha. Vinod Kumar, IFS (Retd), Chairman, NSC-2023 gave the welcome address.
Debabrata Panigrahi, CEO, IQEMS & Convener delivered the thematic address to the august gathering.
In his thematic address, Panigrahi opined that Vision Zero is commitment intended for creating & sustaining safe & healthy work atmosphere at workplace. The conclave was inaugurated by Chief Guest, R.S.Gopalan, Commissioner cum Secretary, Department of Labour & Employee State Insurance.
Addressing the gathering Gopalan said, "Odisha is endowed with vast resources of minerals.
It occupies a prominent place in the country as a mineral rich State.
Mines of Odisha have a direct influence on the economy of the state.
With new Industrial policies, Odisha is going to be one of the favoured investment destinations for domestic and international Companies.
In this scenario, it is very important to create awareness among employees and employers to reduce accidents, injuries, illness and loss of human lives in mining, industry and construction sector." of India; Prof.Karl- Heinz Noetel, President of Global Acting International Section of the ISSA, Germany; G.Rajesh,Director Mines, Government of Odisha; Distinguished Guest HE Jha Liyou, Consul General, The Consulate General of the Peoples Republic of China in Kolkata and Guest of Honour Ashok Kumar Tripathy, IAS (Retd), former Member Board of Revenue, Government of Odisha.
A souvenir was released by the Chief Guest to mark the occasion. Speakers from regulators, government organizations and leading industries / organizations presented 32 papers in the two days technical sessions.
Around 300 delegates from 20 states representing government organizations, industry and mining participated in the conclave. Subrat Panigrahi, COO, IQEMS, Bhubaneswar proposed vote of thanks. Total 23 mines and 52 industries were given the prestigious Kalinga Safety Excellence Award 2022 for their safety practices.
