NATIONAL PHARMACOVIGILANCE WEEK CELEBRATED AT HI-TECH MEDICAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL
Bhubaneswar(24/09/2023): National Pharmacovigilance Week Celebration was held at Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. This year the 3rd National Pharmacovigilance Week 2023 was celebrated in the campus of Hitech Medical College & Hospital, Bhubaneswar by Department of Pharmacology, Hitech Medical College & Hospital under National Coordination Centre, Pharmacovigilance program of India (NCC- PvPI).
These series of events has been lead by Prof.(Dr) Anju Prasad, HOD & Program coordinator, Department of Pharmacology of HMCH, Bhubaneswar along with Akhaiyaka Guru, Pharmacovigilance Associate, Pharmacovigilance program of India. The National Pharmacovigilance Week celebrated throughout the country with the theme ”Boosting Public Confidence in Pharmacovigilance” with the objective to spread awareness among the public & patients about correct use of drugs, adverse drug reaction and how to deal with it. In this week long programme starting from 17th September 2023, program kick started with spreading awareness among public as well as patients in different wards & OPDs along with introduction of Drug Allergy card for easy identification, monitoring of previous/present drug reactions.
Followed by awareness & counseling general public about drug reaction and its serious effects at medical stores by PV associate.
The programme also included special group discussion among school teachers and staffs along with students to avoid the risk of drug reaction at Government Upper Primary School ,Pandra, Bhubaneswar.
Students of various branches of Hi-Tech Medical college & Hospital have came forward with different ideas to deal with drug reaction & to overcome it by various means like Rangoli, Poster competition among Nursing students and dental students followed by a walkathon by dental graduates and a session on adverse drug reaction and submission of feedback form by MBBS students regarding Adverse drug reaction. The program came to an end on 23rd september, 2023 by Prize and memento distribution to various participants and actively participating groups.
The whole program has been made possible with the active participation and cooperation from Departmental staffs Dr.Ratna Palit, Ashok Singh Chouhan and other officials from Pharmacology Department.
