ILS BHUBANESWAR CELEBRATES 35TH FOUNDATION DAY
Bhubaneswar(12/02/2024): The Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, celebrated its Foundation Day today with great enthusiasm and fervour, marking 35th years of excellence in research, education, and innovation in the field of life sciences. Delivering the welcome address, Dr.Debashis Dash Director of ILS Bhubaneswar, expressed his gratitude to all the stakeholders who have been instrumental in the institute's success journey.
He highlighted the remarkable progress made by ILS Bhubaneswar in advancing scientific knowledge, fostering innovation, and addressing societal challenges through interdisciplinary research initiatives. The Foundation Day celebrations commenced with a ceremonial event graced by esteemed dignitaries, faculty members, researchers, and students of ILS Bhubaneswar.
The event featured keynote addresses, panel discussions, scientific presentations, and cultural performances, showcasing the diverse talents and achievements of the institute's community. Dr.Aditya P.Das, Former Vice Chancellor, AIPH University Bhubaneswar, was present as the guest of honour on the occasion.
He shared the journey of ILS under his leadership and wished the institute greater success. Present on the occasion Guest of Honour Dr.Trilochan Mohapatra, Chairperson, Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers Rights Authority, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India and former DG ICAR, said, “It gives me immense pleasure attending the Foundation Day of ILS.

I attended 2 events in the last 2 days and met many stalwarts who passed out from this institute.
Good to see such an event happening at ILS.” The Chief Guest for the occasion was, Dr.Anand Deshpandey, Founder, Chairman, and Managing Director of Persistent Systems, emphasized the need of building teams for conducting impactful research.

I wish all the best to all the students’ staff and faculty members.” Founded in the year 1989 ILS Bhubaneswar has emerged as a premier institute dedicated to cutting-edge research in various domains of life sciences, including molecular biology, bioinformatics, immunology, cancer biology, infectious diseases, and stem cell biology, among others.
Over the years, the institute has made significant contributions to scientific knowledge and has played a pivotal role in nurturing young talents and fostering interdisciplinary research collaborations. The Foundation Day celebrations also provided a platform to acknowledge and honour the contributions of past and present faculty members, researchers, staff, and students towards the growth and development of ILS Bhubaneswar.
Several awards and recognitions were conferred to individuals for their outstanding contributions to research, teaching, administration, and community engagement.
The event followed by prize distribution ceremony and cultural programme in the evening. As part of its commitment to promoting scientific excellence and nurturing young talents, ILS Bhubaneswar also announced various initiatives and programs aimed at enhancing research infrastructure, facilitating collaborative research projects, and providing scholarships and fellowships to meritorious students. The Foundation Day celebrations concluded on a high note with a pledge to continue the institute's legacy of excellence and to embark on new frontiers of scientific discovery and innovation in the coming years.
