Odia Scholar Tanmaya Mishra Earns Global Recognition in Black Hole Research

Balasore, 18/8(Krushna Kumar Mohanty) Odisha’s Tanmaya Mishra has brought laurels to the state by completing his Ph.D. at the University of Florida with groundbreaking research on black holes and gravitational waves.

After earning his postgraduate degree in Physics from NISER, Bhubaneswar, Tanmaya spent six years in Florida pursuing advanced research.

His doctoral dissertation focused on developing innovative machine learning algorithms for detecting and analyzing gravitational waves, opening new directions in astrophysical studies. He carried out his work under the guidance of renowned physicist Professor Sergei Klimenko.

As a member of the prestigious LIGO Scientific Collaboration, Tanmaya’s contributions have gained wide international recognition.

He is the second son of Dr. Chittaranjan Misra, retired Professor of English and poet, and Rotarian Sushama Mishra. His scholarly roots run deep, with his paternal grandfather Shri Dibakar Mishra of Birapratappur, a noted writer, and maternal grandfather Professor Madhusudan Pati of Balangir, a respected academic.

Tanmaya’s success underscores the intellectual promise of Odia youth and reflects Odisha’s growing presence in the global scientific community.
