Odisha CM unfurls Tricolour, announces additional 5 kg rice for 11 districts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the 79th Independence Day celebration at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar.
The Chief Minister announced that the state government has decided to provide more rice under the Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (Welfare Food Scheme for the Poor).
He said, "An additional 5 kg of rice will be distributed free of cost to 11 districts of the state.

The Chief Minister announced that the state government has decided to provide more rice under the Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (Welfare Food Scheme for the Poor). This benefit will be given to the 8 KBK (Kalahandi-Balangir-Koraput) districts, along with Boudh, Gajapati, and Kandhamal districts. For 3 months, more than 27 lakh families will receive this benefit. A total of 41,082 metric tonnes of additional rice will be distributed. The state government will spend approximately Rs 180 crore from its own funds for this purpose."
The CM said, "Various pharmaceutical companies will be established in the state. Industrial development will be prioritized in all districts. Puri will be developed as a center of culture and tourism."
Extortion and forced donations will not be tolerated. Alcohol and drug use will not be allowed on educational campuses, he added.
This year, 50 troupes, school children and police band participated in the state-level parade.
