ODISHA ELECTIONS TO BE HELD IN FOUR PHASES,DATES REVEALED
New Delhi (16/03/2024): Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar on Saturday announced the dates for Lok Sabha elections. The poll dates have been revealed for Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Sikkim. As per schedule, 26 by-elections dates have been revealed.
The by-elections will coincide with general elections. Odisha polls will be held in four phases on May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1. Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases. Lok Sabha phase 1 elections will be held on April 19 and Phase 2 on April 26. While Phase 3 will be held on May 7, the Phase 4 of Lok Sabha polls will take place on May 13. The Phase 5 and Phase 6 of Lok Sabha elections will be held on May 20 and May 25, respectively.
The Phase 7 elections will be held on June 1. Counting of votes will be done on June 4. The Chief Election Commissioner said, "We have 97 crore registered voters.
There are 1.82 crore first-time voters this time.
A total of 10.5 lakh polling stations have been set up in the country.
Those who will become 18 by April 1 can vote." Kumar warned against the use of muscle, money power during polls and said that no violence will be tolerated.
