Bhubaneswar(17/03/2024): A visit to the Odisha State Tribal Museum was organised by the NSS Co-Unit of D M School, RIE Bhubaneswar on March 16, 2024. All the NSS Volunteers enthusiastically participated in this programme. The volunteers were escorted by the NSS Programme Officer, Mohd Ghulam Rahbar.
The volunteers along with the Programme Officer reached the museum at 10 a.m. They were then joined by Dr.Biswa Mohana Jena, Programme Co-coordinator, NSS Bureau, Council of Higher Secondary Education Bhubaneswar. He briefed the volunteers about the importance of this visit.
The volunteers went inside the museum after completing the formalities with the curator. They were provided important instructions about how to go about visiting the museum by the curator.
They evinced keen interest and curiosity about the arts and artefacts of the tribal people. They not only keenly observed the art, artefacts and culture of the various tribes of Odisha but also noted down some significant and valuable information about them. The volunteers also visited the gallery which houses the many and varied types of tribal huts which are fairly unique as well as amusing. They also watched a short documentary film on tribal ethnic medicines and treatment of different kinds of ailments. The documentary was so engrossing and gripping that the volunteers remained glued to the screen till the documentary came to an end. On the whole, this visit was worth its weight in gold. It was a tremendous learning curve for the volunteers and they returned home more enlightened and enriched insofar as tribal arts, artefacts and culture were concerned. The staff of the museum were fairly helpful and cooperative .
