Odisha Police launches cash reward scheme to capture Maoists

Bhubaneswar (By Abhishek Mohanty): The Odisha Police has introduced a new incentive scheme announcing cash rewards for capturing Maoists or providing credible information about their whereabouts.

Posters detailing the scheme have been displayed at over nine locations across Boudh district, including Sigadi, Tilpanga, Udamunda, Matagadu, Khandikhanpa, Luharpada, Nalikumpa, and Palam, as well as in forested areas under the jurisdictions of Boudh, Kantamal, Baunshuni, and Manmunda police stations.

According to the posters issued by Boudh district police, a total of Rs 4.3 crore has been earmarked as rewards for information leading to the arrest of 10 identified Maoists. The reward amount varies based on the threat level and rank of the individual.

A maximum reward of Rs 1 crore has been announced for the capture of the most wanted Maoists, while actionable intelligence will fetch up to Rs 20 lakh. For each hardcore Maoist captured, a reward of Rs 50 lakh will be granted.

The police also stated that informants providing details about Maoists who have been killed or have surrendered will be eligible for rewards. The identity of all informants will be kept strictly confidential.
