RESEARCH MINISTERS MEETING CONCLUDES IN MUMBAI
Mumbai(07/07/2023): Under India’s G20 Presidency, the G20 Research and Innovation Initiative Gathering Summit (RIIG) and Research Ministers meeting concluded in Mumbai on Thursday.
The Research Ministers Meeting was chaired by the Union Minister of State for Science & Technology (Independent Charge) Dr.Jitendra Singh.
The meeting saw participation from 100 foreign delegates and 29 research ministers from G20 countries.
The Research and Innovation Initiative Gathering Summit (RIIG) and Research Ministers meeting witnessed deliberations on topics namely, challenges related to energy materials & devices, solar energy utilization & photovoltaic technology, and materials & processes for green energy. The Union Minister expressed gratitude towards the G20 members for their active participation and for supporting India's RIIG agenda with valuable inputs and comments on the priority areas.
Dr.Jitendra Singh emphasized that India is fully committed to contributing towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal-2023 (SDGs) through research and innovation through international collaboration and partnership.
These include materials for sustainable energy, circular bio-economy, eco-innovation for energy transition, and scientific challenges and opportunities towards achieving a sustainable blue economy, which highlight the importance of research and innovation for inclusive societal development and progress.

Later, the G20 delegates visited IIT Bombay to experience the research and innovation facilities.
During their visit, they learnt about various aspects of research and innovation facilities in India.
Earlier, the RIIG meetings have also been held in Kolkata, Ranchi, Dibrugarh, Dharamshala, and Diu .
