SUNABESHA: ADORNMENT OF THE HOLY TRINITY DEITIES WITH GOLD
Puri/Bhubaneswar (17/07/2024)/By Amrita Dash: Crores of devotees are set to view the Sunabesha of the enigmatic Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra and Lord Balabhadra today and over 15 lakhs will be in attendance to physically witness the occasion.
Sunabesha means the adornment of Mahaprabhu and his siblings with golden ornaments.
This is done on the Ashadha Shukla Pakshya Ekadashi Tithi after they have returned from the gundicha temple.
The ornaments retrieved temporarily from Ratna Bhandar will be graced for their adornment.
Meanwhile, the opening of the inner chamber of the Ratna Bhandar will resume tomorrow.
According to official reports, this year, the iconic Sunabesha is set to take place between 5-7 pm.
Devotees can witness the besha till 11 pm. So what will our holy Trinity be gilded with? Lord Balabhadra will wear Shreepayar, Shreebhuja, Kirita, Odiani, Kundal, Chandasurya and different chains. Devi Subhadra will adorn Kirita, Odiani, Chandrasurya, Kana, Adakani, Kadambamali, Sebatimali, and two Tagadis. Similarly, Lord Jagannath will glitter with Shreepayar, Shreebhuja Kirita, Odiani, Kundal, Chandasurya and different chains. Moreover, special traffic management solutions have been implemented from the day of Bahuda Jatra.
The Jaga drone that had been put to use, will provide realtime traffic and route planning information through an AI powered whatsapp chatbot, introduced by the Odisha Police.
The occasion is truly a big moment in history.
