Fakir Mohan University Signs MoU with Emami Paper Mills to Set Up Sanitary Pad Production Unit on Campus

Balasore, 03/08 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Fakir Mohan University and Emami Paper Mills Limited to initiate a unique and socially significant project — the establishment of a sanitary pad production unit within the university's administrative premises.
The primary aim of this MoU is to formally launch the unit, which is envisioned as both a community-centric initiative and a student-driven social enterprise. The signing ceremony took place during a meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Santosh Kumar Tripathy, where senior officials from both institutions discussed various crucial aspects of the proposed project.
Prof. Tripathy expressed gratitude to Emami Paper Mills Ltd. for choosing Fakir Mohan University as the site for this pioneering step, which marks the first of its kind initiative in any university in Odisha. He emphasized that the project will not only empower women and female students with access to essential hygiene products but also foster practical awareness of social responsibility and entrepreneurship among the student community.
Representing Emami were Mr. Ashish Avinash Gupta (Senior President), Dr. Yusuf Ali Solanki (GM-Human Resources), and Mr. M. K. Padhi (AGM–Public Relations). From the university side, the MoU was formally signed by Registrar Ms. Kukumina Das and Prof. Bhaskar Behera, Chairman of the Postgraduate Council.
The project will be coordinated by Prof. Pankaj Kumar Parhee, Convener of the University’s TBI (Technology Business Incubator), and Mr. Sunendu Nayak, the TBI CEO.
This initiative is being hailed as a significant milestone, aimed at ensuring the availability of quality sanitary products to local women and girl students at affordable prices. At the same time, it will provide students with valuable hands-on experience in business and social engagement.
Dr. Yusuf Ali Solanki remarked that the project seeks to empower women and students by making hygiene products easily accessible, and aims to instill long-term positive change and skill development in the younger generation.
Prof. Pankaj Kumar Parhee further informed that the monitoring of various components for project execution will be completed very soon.
