Two-year-old girl abducted from Berhampur rescued in West Bengal

Berhampur(By Abhishek Mohanty): A two-year-old girl, kidnapped from Berhampur in Ganjam district, was successfully rescued by Baidyanathpur police from East Medinipur district of West Bengal.

 The accused—a man along with his wife’s sister—has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Sources said the child’s family had travelled from Bhanjanagar to MKCG Medical College on October 21. Following a heated argument with his wife, the accused abducted his wife’s sister’s two-year-old daughter and later demanded Rs 1.5 lakh as ransom.

Police swung into action and conducted raids in Bhubaneswar, Puri, and eventually in West Bengal, where they tracked down the accused and rescued the child safely.
