12-HOUR BANDH IN KORAPUT'S LAXMIPUR AFFECTS VEHICULAR MOVEMENT

Koraput (04/03/2024): A 12-hour bandh called by Laxmipur Bikash Parishad affected movement of vehicles in Laxmipur block of Koraput district on Monday. Shops, markets and other business establishments remained closed.

Owing to a road blockade staged by the protestors on NH-326, vehicular movement stopped on the road connecting Rayagada and Koraput. The bandh began at 6 am demanding sub-division status for the block. Locals and different organisations extended their support to the strike. The bandh supporters alleged that they have been demanding sub-division status for the block for the last six years, but the state government has failed to take any step in this regard.
