Annual Festival Celebrated at Balangi Degree College in Balasore

Balasore, Feb 17 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): The annual festival of Balangi Degree College, one of the prominent co-educational institutions of Balasore district, was celebrated peacefully and in an orderly manner.

The programme was held under the chairmanship of the college principal, Dr. Ratnakar Singh. The Chairperson of Balasore Municipality, Mrs. Sabita Sahu, attended the event as the chief guest. In her address, she highlighted how proper use of time and hard work help students establish themselves in life.
Eminent litterateur Dr. Sirish Chandra Jena joined as the keynote speaker and observed that the world around us holds countless reservoirs of knowledge and resources. If one learns how to unlock these, life can be enriched with prosperity and fulfillment.

Renowned poet Bimal Jena, a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award, attended as a distinguished guest. In his speech, he remarked that every letter of one’s mother tongue reflects the face of one’s mother. He added that dedicating the vibrant years of youth to the mother tongue and motherland makes life truly meaningful.

Another distinguished guest, noted poet and educationist Madhusudan Mishra, spoke on how student life can be ennobled through the cultivation of diverse virtues.

Odia lecturer Dr. Sarangadhar Tripathy invited the guests to the dais, while Zoology lecturer Prabodh Kumar Pati recited the Vedic invocation. Female students of the college presented the welcome song. Zoology lecturer Suruchi Mohanty delivered the vote of thanks.
Students who had excelled in various fields were felicitated by the guests. In the afternoon, cultural programmes were presented by the students.
Faculty members including Manoj Kumar Nayak, Ajay Kumar Mahakud, Surendra Panda, Biswajit Pradhan, Rupak Behera, Sanjay Dey, Prahallad Kuanr, Prabhat Swain, Tanushree Pothal, Manaswini Das, Namita Dutta, Gopali Das, Monalina Das, Ipsita Patra, Priyanka Patra, Pritirekha Patra, Santosh Panda, Satyabrata Samal, Harekrushna Barik, Sushanta Das, Debashish Dash, Ratnakar Behera and others cooperated in the smooth conduct of the programme.
