Bharat Bandh disrupts transport & services across Odisha
Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): Normal life was partially affected across Odisha on Thursday due to a 12-hour Bharat Bandh called by trade unions.
The shutdown was observed from 6 AM to 6 PM.
Vehicle movement was disrupted in several parts of the state, with markets, schools, colleges, and commercial establishments remaining closed in many areas.
In Bhubaneswar, petrol pumps, shops, markets, and the Ama Bus service remained shut.
Workers locked the gate of the Ama Bus depot at Master Canteen, halting operations.
In Cuttack, fewer buses were seen arriving at the Netaji Bus Terminal, affecting passenger movement.
The bandh received support from Congress, Left parties, and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
In Balangir district, protesters locked the head post office and staged demonstrations.
At Balasore railway station, trade union members held protests and stopped the Bangiriposi–Puri Express train.
Meanwhile, workers staged a demonstration in front of Gate No. 3 of Paradip Port in Jagatsinghpur district, adding to the impact of the statewide shutdown.
Impact of the bandh was most felt in Dhenkanal district where shops, markets, educational institutions remained shut, while vehicles stayed off the roads at several places.
