Tight security in place for Mahashivratri at Lingaraj Temple; 44 platoons, over 200 officers deployed
Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): Elaborate security and traffic arrangements have been put in place for the upcoming Mahashivratri celebrations at the Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, with authorities stating that preparations are nearly complete.
Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh said extensive measures have been undertaken to ensure smooth darshan for devotees.
“All arrangements are almost complete. Every year, a large meeting is held where all stakeholders are present to coordinate preparations,” he said.
As part of the security deployment, a 44-platoon force and more than 200 police officers will be stationed in and around the temple premises. A special tactical unit, bomb disposal squad, Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) teams, and fire safety personnel will also be deployed.
Traffic areas have been identified in advance to manage the expected surge in footfall. The Commissioner urged devotees to use public transport and be prepared to walk short distances to facilitate smooth movement and avoid congestion.
Mahashivratri witnesses a massive turnout of devotees at the Lingaraj Temple every year, with authorities focusing on coordinated planning and heightened security to ensure the festival passes off peacefully.
