Bhubaneswar Pradhan new Kansa of Bargarh Dhanu Yatra

Bhubaneswar(01/12/2024): Bhubaneswar Pradhan has been selected as the new Kansa of the world-famous Bargarh Dhanu Yatra. Pradhan has pipped three other artistes in the audition organised by the Bargarh Dhanu Yatra committee on Sunday. He was selected by a jury committee comprising three members in an audition organised by the Bargarh Dhanu Yatra Committee. Pradhan will portray the mythological character in the 77th edition of Dhanuyatra, the largest open-air theatre festival, scheduled to be held from January 3 to 13, 2025. The other artistes in the fray were Jagadananda Mishra, Artatrana Sunani and Sushil Meher.

All these artists had secured second to fifth spot at the audition in 2022. To select a new actor for the role, the committee decided to call the artistes who had secured second to fifth position in the 2022 auditions. The decision to change the artiste for the role of Kansa was recently taken during a preparatory meeting of the Dhanu Yatra Committee at the District Collector’s office. The famous Dhanuyatra has got a new Kansa after the organising committee decided to drop Hruiskesh Bhoi who played the role for 11 editions. Bhoi, a hearse driver was suspended for seeking money from the next of kin of a deceased.
