Durga Madhab Panda, born on October 1, 1955, in the border village of Himagiri, Sundargarh district, Odisha, is a luminary in the realm of Odia and Sambalpuri literature and music.  Son of Chitrasen Panda and Brajeshwari Panda, his mother tongue is Sambalpuri, reflecting the rich cultural tapestry of his upbringing. 

Artistic Journey and Contributions

Durga Madhab Panda's illustrious career spans multiple facets of the arts: poet, lyricist, music director, and satirical poet.  His lyrical prowess is evident in the Odia film industry, notably penning the song "To Chhai Dekhibaku Chahena" from the film Karma, which features superstar Anubhav Mohanty  . His work in the film Pratiksha earned him the "Bani Chitra" award for Best Lyricist and the Third Odia Cinema Award. 

Panda's contributions extend to All India Radio and Doordarshan, where his compositions have resonated with audiences across generations.  His commitment to creating high-quality and refined works, steering clear of commercialism, underscores his dedication to the arts. 

Literary Works

Durga Madhab Panda's literary repertoire includes: 

*"Antardaha"* – A collection of 100 Odia lyrical poems, with the first two editions totaling 2,000 copies sold out, and a third edition awaited. 

*"Trushna"* – A compilation of 100 Odia songs and ghazals. 

*"Mor Gaon Sahar Sahar Laguchhe"* – A collection of 100 Sambalpuri poems.

Panda's lyrical genius has graced numerous films, including:

Durga Madhab Panda's contributions have garnered international acclaim.  He has been honored by the Government of India for his poetry and recognized by the Chief Minister of Odisha as a distinguished poet.  His accolades include felicitations in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Dubai  .

Notably, he is the original creator of the poem "Chhell," recited by Padma Shri Haldhar Nag.  He also penned the lyrics for the Sambalpuri song "Uansa Rati Ra," sung by the legendary Asha Bhosle in the film Chini  .
