BJD Leaders Engage with Striking Nurses at Sundargarh District Headquarters Hospital
27 November 2024, Sundargarh: On the third day of the ongoing strike by the Odisha Nursing Employees’ Association (ONEA), a delegation of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leaders, led by Sri Jaya Narayan Tripathy, Representative of Sundargarh MLA, engaged in an inclusive dialogue with the striking nurses at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Sundargarh. The nurses are protesting for the fulfillment of their 10-point charter of demands, which includes the regularisation of contractual workers and the scrapping of outsourcing practices in the healthcare sector.
During the interaction, Sri Tripathy assured the nurses that the BJD stands in solidarity with their cause and expressed the party’s support for their demands. He emphasized that the BJD has always prioritized the welfare of healthcare workers and is committed to ensuring that their grievances are addressed.
Following the interaction, the BJD delegation met with the Chief District Medical & Public Health Officer (CDM&PHO) in his chamber at DHH Sundargarh to discuss the concerns raised by the striking nurses. While Sundargarh MLA, Sri Jogesh Kumar Singh, could not attend the meeting due to personal reasons, his message of support was conveyed. Sri Singh assured the nurses that all possible efforts would be made to meet their demands and resolve the ongoing dispute.
The nurses’ strike continues, with growing attention from political leaders and healthcare authorities.
