CONCLUDING EVENING OF DHAULI-KALINGA MAHOTSAV DROPS WITH BHARATNATYAM & CONTEMPORARY MARTIAL ART
Bhubaneswar(11/02/2024): It was the concluding evening of the 20th Dhauli Kalinga Mahotsav organised by Department of Odia Language, Literature & Culture, Government of Odisha and Orissa Dance Academy in association with Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi and Art Vision.
Reverberating the gospel of peace and rejuvenating the nuances of Indian classical dances, music and martial dance the valedictory evening was really a splendid one leaving the connoisseurs mesmerized.
This year Buddha Samman 2024 presented to Madhavi Mudgal, renowned Odissi dancer and guru for her lifetime contribution in the field of Odissi dance.
Similarly Guru Gangadhar Smruti Samman 2024 presented to Guru Simanchala Patro, acclaimed Prahallad Natak Guru, Pt.Debendra Narayan Satapathy, renowned Hindustani Classical Vocal Exponent, Guru Ratikanta Mohapatra, eminent Odissi Dance Exponent and Dr.Siddhartha Mohanty, reputed General Medical Practitioner. Concluding evening first programme was Bharatnatyam dance by Vaibhav Arekar & Group from Sankhya Dance Creations, Mumbai.
They presented Abhanga-Ranga, based on soulful devotional poems of saint poets of Maharshtra that has not only enriched the literature of Maharashtra but also deeply influenced and conditioned the culture and people.
The dance was choreographed by Vaibhav Arekar and composed by Aruna Sairam, K.A.Ganeshan, Jayant Neruflkar and Ambika Vishwanath. Evening last programme was Contemporary Martial Art by Janardhan Raj Urs & Group from Cornucopia Creations, Bangalore.
They presented Mahakshatriya, Koushika was a mighty and proud monarch, who realized painfully that the worldly wealth and physical might were nothing as compared with spiritual valor, his adversary became his model, his model became his foe, his foe became his rival, his rival became his mentor, his mentor became his savior.
It was the form of sun, pushan and Savitru , that immortalized sage Vishwamitra by bestowing upon him the sacred Gayathri Mantra.
We should take a cue from their life and transmit to the world at large.
By that, Indians can uplift not only ourselves but also humanity as whole.
Lyrics prepared by Dr.
Shatavadani Ganesh, Concept, Choreography, Animation, Visualisation by Sri.Janardhana Raju Urs, Music composed by Praveen D.Rao and Light designed by Debiprasad Mishra. The dignitaries who graced the occasion were Dr.(Prof.) Priyambada Mohanty Hejmadi, Eminent Odissi Dancer & Former Vice Chancellor, Sambalpur University; Satyananda Mishra, President, Orissa Dance Academy; Dr.Lalit Mansingh, Former Indian Ambassador to USA, Arati Ahuja, Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India; Dilip Routray, Director, Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department and Guru (Dr.) Aruna Mohanty, Secretary, Orissa Dance Academy.
The programme was anchored by Dr.(En.) Srinibas Ghatuari and Nazia Alam.
