Grand Health Camp and Awareness Programme Organised by Manipal Hospital, Bhubaneswar for Balasore Journalists
Balasore, January 31 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): A free health camp was organised by Manipal Hospital, Bhubaneswar, in collaboration with Balasore Media Karmi, with the participation of experienced doctors.
Held at the Balasore Atithya Bhavan, the programme saw the participation of over 100 members of Balasore Media Karmi.
The health camp, conducted from 10 am to 3 pm, was inaugurated by the chief guests Dr Amulya Das, ADMO, Balasore, and Mrs Sabita Sahu, Chairperson of Balasore Municipality. The guests appreciated the initiative and described it as a commendable step towards healthcare awareness.
On this occasion, Manipal Hospital also launched a “Media Privilege Card” for all participants. Through this card, media professionals will be able to avail special healthcare facilities and discounts at Manipal Hospital, Bhubaneswar. Senior media members welcomed this initiative of Manipal Hospital.
As part of the large health camp and awareness session, senior orthopaedic surgeon Dr Kishore Kumar Panda spoke on knee joint pain, robotic knee surgery, hip surgery, and hip preservation. Dr Sachin Sekhar Biswal, senior medical oncologist, warned that excessive consumption of gutkha and other intoxicants significantly increases the risk of cancer. He stressed that lifestyle changes can help combat even serious diseases like cancer and underlined the importance of regular health check-ups for disease prevention.
Neurologist Dr Amlan Tapan Mahapatra provided information on brain stroke and highlighted the critical importance of the “golden hour,” stating that timely treatment can save lives and prevent severe neurological damage. As part of the health camp, Dr Sadashiv Mishra, Senior Medical Officer, conducted comprehensive health check-ups of the participants.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Dr Amulya Das said, This initiative by Manipal Hospital is highly commendable. Media professionals often neglect their own health while working to create awareness in society. Such camps will definitely be very beneficial for them.
Mrs Sabita Sahu described media professionals as ambassadors of public health awareness and said that the health camp reflects a sense of responsibility towards their well-being and a commitment to promoting preventive healthcare.
Through this health camp, direct engagement with the Balasore media community helped strengthen awareness about health consciousness and the importance of early disease detection. Members of Balasore Media Karmi expressed that such socially oriented programmes and awareness campaigns by Manipal Hospital, Bhubaneswar, can significantly strengthen community health.
With the active participation and cooperation of all members, the programme was successfully organised.
