Maintain decorum in conduct and speech: President Droupadi Murmu advises Ministers and MLAs in Odisha Assembly
Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday addressed the winter session of the Odisha Assembly.
The President advised Ministers and MLAs to maintain restraint in their conduct and speech.
She said that members' behaviour inside the House should be disciplined, as everyone can see it today through modern technology.
Expressing delight at being present in the Assembly, President Murmu said that although she has addressed many state legislatures before, addressing the Odisha Assembly is truly special.
The President said, “Whatever position I hold today, I owe it to this House. Without the blessings of Lord Jagannath, I would not have reached here. I have asked questions here as an MLA, answered questions as a Minister, and worked with several former MLAs who are present in the gallery today. I am overwhelmed to see them again.”
She noted that women’s representation in the Odisha Assembly has increased and highlighted that the Assembly is currently presided over by a woman Speaker—an achievement made possible by the vision of a developed India.
The President said Odisha is abundant in every type of resource, and therefore it can be transformed into a leading state. She stressed the need to build a prosperous Odisha by 2036.
She urged the members of the House to consider the progress of Odisha as a mission of their lives.
