UNION FINANCE MINISTER PRESENTS INTERIM BUDGET 2024-25; ANNOUNCES HOUSING PLAN FOR MIDDLE CLASS
New Delhi (01/02/2024): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Interim Budget for the financial year 2024-25 in the Parliament today. The Finance Minister announced 50-year interest free loan for private sector and housing plan for middle class.
The four focus areas of the budget are poor, youth, women and farmers. The Finance Minister said, "The Government will help housing for the middle class living in rented or slums or unauthorised colonies to build or buy their own houses.
The Government has decided to cover all ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers and helpers under Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
The Government now aims to increase Lakhpati Didis to 3000 crore from 2000 crore." In her 58-minute budget speech, Sitharaman announced that 9-14 year-old girls will be vaccinated against cervical cancer, 1.4 crore youths will be trained to enhance skills and greater adoption of e-buses in India.
Farm sector will get modern storage and supply chains. However, no change in tax slabs has been announced.
