ORIENTATION PROGRAMME ON NATURAL FARMING ORGANISED IN ATHAMALLIK
Bhubaneswar(26/02/2024): A one-day orientation programme on natural farming was conducted by NCNF, Odisha, IGSSS & Agriculture Department, Athamallik.
Krushak Sathi/ Mitra, Farmers and CSO functionaries were oriented in the Agriculture Office, Athamallik in Angul district today. Bishnu Prasad Kar, ADO, Athamallik presided over the meeting and described the importance of natural farming in contemporary time. Dr.Nanda Kishore Mahakud spoke about the importance of cow based natural farming, importance of traditional farming, rituals behind agricultural activities, importance of indigenous seeds and so on.
He said, agriculture can address the rising number of migrations from rural to urban areas.
And with natural farming, farmers can be better self sufficient.
We need to invest with next generation farmers, said Dr.Mahakud.
So also, he discussed about various utilities of cow dung and urine.
We have three Mothers- mother earth, cow and the one who has given birth to us, Dr.Mahakud mentioned.
We need to take care of these mothers for our better tomorrow, he added. Ekadashi Nandi vividly discussed basic principles of natural farming.
He also discussed on soil health, biodiversity conservation & the role of forests in agriculture.
So also he mentioned about preparation of bio inputs & their usages.
The farmers can shift from agrochemicals to bio formulations gradually which will help them belive about the miracles of natural farming, Nandi addressed.

Imran Ali discussed the need for natural farming.
He highlighted how the present generation is struggling with disease burdens like cancer, diabetes and other deadly diseases.
Now, the World is facing climate change issues which ultimately needs climate action.
And natural farming is a call of hour to address climate change issues, said Dr.Imran.
Organically produced products are attracting the attention of the market, added Dr.Imran.
Apart from this, there was open house discussion in which the participants raised their concerns and the trainers effectively responded to the queries and doubts.
At the end, Sanoj Kumar Dehuri placed a vote of thanks.
Odia leaflets on natural farming were also distributed among the participants.
