Patient receives chemotherapy in mobile torchlight at VIMSAR

Burla (13/02/2025): A disturbing incident occurred at the Cancer Ward of VIMSAR in Burla of Sambalpur district, where a patient underwent chemotherapy in the dark due to a power outage. The incident happened on Wednesday when the electricity supply was disrupted for nearly three hours.

The patient and his relatives alleged that despite having a generator, it was not used, forcing them to rely on mobile torches for light. The hospital authorities, however, claimed that the power outage occurred due to maintenance work and that action would be taken against the staff responsible for the oversight .
