PM-JUGA launched in Odisha

Bhubaneswar(21/09/2024): PM- Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan (PM-JUGA) has been launched by the efforts of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the overall holistic development of the tribals.
This campaign will benefit 10,85,661 tribal families of 7667 tribal villages in 232 blocks of 27 districts of Odisha.
Nityananda Gond, Minister, STSC Development, M&BCW Department expressed thanks to the Prime Minister for his efforts.
According to information, 22.85 percent of the total population of our state are tribal communities.
While there are 64 types of tribal communities in the state, there are 13 types of PVTG communities.
The Minister opined that both the Union and State Governments are committed to providing basic services to the tribal communities and creating a healthy living environment. Thanking the PM and praising this campaign dedicated to the tribals, Minister said, this campaign will bring progress in the tribal areas of Odisha.
The campaign will integrate the tribals of the remote areas into the mainstream and empower them financially.
Four goals have been set under this campaign – infrastructure development, financial empowerment, good education for all and dignified ageing including good health.
The Minister has expressed the view that the PM-JUGA will work continuously to achieve all these 4 goals. On the success of the PM-JANMAN Yojana, the Government of India has launched the PM- JUGA to address the challenges in infrastructure, education, health and livelihoods of the tribal community.
The campaign will include 25 programs and will be implemented by 17 ministries/departments.
The scheme will be implemented over the next 5 years through the funds allocated to the department under the Development Action Plan for Scheduled Tribes (DAPST). The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 18, 2024 approved PM-Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan with total outlay of Rs.79,156 crore (Central Share Rs.56,333 crore and State Share Rs.22,823 crore) for improving the socio-economic condition of tribal communities by adopting saturation coverage for tribal families in tribal-majority villages and aspirational districts.
This will cover around 63,000 villages benefitting more than 5 crores tribal people as announced in the Budget speech 2024-25.
It will cover 549 districts and 2,740 blocks spread across all tribal majority villages across 30 states/UTs.
