Saplings planted on banks of Gangua to celebrate National Tree Day
Bhubaneswar(28/07/2024): On the occasion of National Tree Day, Anchalika Bikash Parishad (ABP) planted saplings on the main road from Samantarapur Chhak to Gangua Bridge along Shishupalgarh in Bhubaneswar.
The tree plantation was done by ABP members, intellectuals, and nature lovers.
The saplings were planted and fenced with bamboo and tied with ropes. The programme was attended by ABP President Brundaban Sahu, Vice President Akshay Swain, Arun Kumar Purohit, nature lover Dr Lingaraj Sahoo, environmentalist Laxmidhar Pradhan, senior member Prashant Mishra, Suman Subudhi, Purnachandra Swain, Lingaraj Jena, Sarat Biswal, Prakash Swain, Ashwini Sahu, Sanjay Das, Tapan Baral, Pradeep Pradhan, Debaraj Behera, Lalit Behera, Bishnu Biswal, Soumya Parida, Pradyumna Jena, Alok Sahu, Raghunath Swain, Manoj Baral, Madan Mohapatra, Bullet Ray, Jayant Sahu, Ramesh Gocchayat and Ghanashyam Behera. Addressing the occasion, nature lover Dr Lingaraj Sahoo said, "The purpose of celebrating National Tree Day is to discuss and aware people about the importance of trees for us and society.
He emphasized the need for tree plantation and conservation to protect the environment, which is facing various challenges." Participating in the event can inspire lifelong habitats of environmental stewardship.
It's a reminder that small actions, like planting a tree, can have a big impact on the world, Dr Sahoo added.
