State Government Accepts BJD Balasore’s Demand in Favour of Farmers

Balasore – 08/06 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): In the interest of farmers, and following the directive of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) State President Naveen Patnaik, a delegation of BJD members led by former MP Rabindra Kumar Jena met the Balasore District Collector on July 25. They submitted a memorandum demanding immediate simplification or cancellation of the complex, controversial, and unnecessary procedures involved in the registration process for Kharif paddy procurement. They had warned that, if not addressed, many farmers might be deprived of selling their Kharif paddy.
Accepting their demand, the state government has officially decided to simplify the registration process. On Wednesday, the Balasore district administration issued a formal notification regarding this decision.
In the notification signed by the District Collector, it has been clarified that, to avoid difficulties during the ongoing Kharif season farmer registration, farmers will no longer be mandatorily required to submit legal heir certificates or lineage (ancestry) documents. However, they must submit a self-declaration form before the relevant Service Cooperative Societies, Multi-Purpose Tribal Service Cooperative Societies, or Women’s Self Help Groups. This self-declaration will be treated as a valid document for registration.
If any information provided through the self-declaration is later found to be false or fabricated, strict legal action will be taken against the concerned farmer as per law.
Following the announcement, former MP Rabindra Jena stated that this new regulation will benefit countless farmer brothers and sisters, enabling them to complete the registration process more easily.
