In the vibrant landscape of Odia cinema, one name shines brightly, synonymous with cinematic excellence, creative genius, and passionate storytelling: Suraj Mishra. This trailblazing director has woven a collage of iconic films that transcend time, captivating audiences with his unique blend of commercial appeal and artistic mastery.

Born in Cuttack  Chaudwar, Odisha, Suraj's artistic journey began in childhood, fueled by an insatiable passion for storytelling and visual communication. Growing up, he was enchanted by the magic of theatre and cinema, laying the foundation for his future endeavors.

In 1984, Suraj embarked on a daring adventure to Mumbai, determined to prove his mettle in the competitive world of hindi cinema industry. Despite facing numerous setbacks, his perseverance paid off. A chance visit to the sets of the iconic TV series Mahabharat led to a life-changing encounter with renowned  cameraman ( DOP) Dharam Chopra, brother of legendary filmmaker BR Chopra.

Under the guidance of Rabi Chopra, Suraj honed his craft as an assistant director on the epic series. This experience not only sharpened his skills but also instilled in him a deep understanding of the intricacies of storytelling & film direction . His subsequent collaboration with acclaimed film director Raj.N. Sippi on five films further polished his expertise.

After returning to Odisha in 1993, Suraj continued to push boundaries. As a pioneer in Odia television, he played a pivotal role in shaping the mega serial landscape. His groundbreaking work as a screenplay writer, producer, and visual director on Bhubaneswar Doordarshan Kendra's inaugural mega serial, Adhikar, set the stage for a new era.

Suraj Mishra's foray into feature films was marked by critical acclaim and commercial success. His directorial ventures, Suna Paaliṅkī, Ma mangala, and Agni Parikhya, showcased his unique vision and mastery over storytelling.
