Balasore, 5/7 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty):
Yesterday evening, a special event titled "Kabi Bipin Nayak Sandhya" was organized at the ACPL Hall by the literary group 'Bhala Kabitara Khoj' (BKK) in honour of eminent poet Bipin Nayak.
Known for its consistent pursuit of poetic originality, 'Bhala Kabitara Khoj' dedicated its 77th session to a poet who lives and breathes poetry — the celebrated Brahmapur-based poet Bipin Nayak. As the event coincided with his birth month, poet Nayak expressed heartfelt gratitude and remarked:
“I was not as elated even when I received the Sahitya Akademi Award as I am today, being part of this beautiful gathering in Balasore. This evening has overwhelmed me with a rare and profound joy. Good poetry is always elusive — it is that very elusiveness that makes it truly good. Nothing easily achieved can ever be considered great. I don’t know how I write poetry, but every time I write, it is a journey through emotion and experience. I am unfamiliar with theories or Western literary thought. I wrestle with words — I break them, I shape them. And what is poetry if not the architecture of words? It is the poet who gives form to words through emotional arrangement. That is what I’ve always done.”
At the beginning of the programme, Krushna Kumar Mohanty, the convenor of Bhala Kabitara Khoj, invited the guests to the stage. Co-convenor poet Srideb coordinated the proceedings and shared insights into the creative essence of Nayak’s poetry. Poet Utpal Mohanty, an executive member of the group, introduced the guest poet and offered the vote of thanks.
This reflective and intellectually rich evening was graced by poets and writers including Prashanta Das, Dr. Harischandra Behera, Dr. Subash Chandra Patra, Abhaya Das, short story writer Gangadhar Biswal, poets Ranjan Baug, Shubhendu Das, Kamalini Kasta, Preetilekha Das, Debajani Das, Dr. Santosh Kumar Nayak, Sitansu Lenka, Satya Sahu, K. Shyambabu Dora, Basant Behera, Sanjay Panda, Rajesh Giri, among others. They fondly recalled their memories associated with poet Bipin Nayak and recited his poems during the session.
